From Tuesday 10th March through to Friday 20th March, we were on site at Mooseheart full-time. The campus is extraordinary — a self-contained community with its own school, residential homes, chapel, sports facilities and administration buildings, all set in the Fox River valley. The sense of history is palpable: bronze statues, the landmark clock tower, and the original buildings sit alongside modern facilities, all united by a single mission of caring for children in need.

The core of our work was a structured programme of discovery sessions with every department at Mooseheart. We began with introductory sessions for over 100 staff, giving everyone a first look at CHARMS and what it can do. These were followed by focused deep-dive sessions with smaller groups to build a thorough understanding of current processes, workflows, and pain points. We met with staff from across the organisation: Residential Care, Clinical Services, Education, Administration, Admissions, Quality Improvement, HR and Security.
Every session was coordinated superbly by Phillip Morgan on the Mooseheart side, and the engagement from staff was outstanding — questions flowed freely, ideas were shared openly, and it was clear from the outset that this is a team that genuinely cares about getting the best possible tools to support their work. One of the highlights was an evening dinner with staff from several departments, and another was a meal in Canada Home with Family Teachers Gunesh and Mo and the young people living there. Those moments remind you what all of this is really about.
